Shooting at a ship-repair yard combines two challenges: the monumental scale of the ships and the conditions of an active industrial environment, with safety governing everything.
Aerial drone imagery is decisive. Only from the air do you truly grasp the size of a dry dock or a ship's relationship with the yard around it. It's a perspective no ground-level photo can offer.
But detail counts too. At ground level, we capture the texture of steel, welding operations, the crews at work and moments like a bulbous bow replacement — details that humanise the industrial scale.
Working in these environments requires preparation: the right gear, knowledge of safety rules and the confidence to operate near cranes and heavy machinery. It's a kind of photography that rewards experience.
